FAQ
Fences & gates
Which fence materials can you install?
Cedar and other wood, wrought and ornamental iron, aluminum, vinyl and chain link, plus combination wood-and-iron fences. Some cities limit the options; Coppell, for example, doesn’t allow chain link. Our wood fence and iron fence pages go into detail.
What kinds of driveway gates do you build?
Sliding and swing gates in wrought iron or wood, built manual or electric. Our gate page walks through which style suits which driveway.
Is it better to repair or replace a fence?
It comes down to the posts and how much of the fence is damaged. A few bad boards or one leaning section can often be fixed; rot across many posts usually means replacement. We’ll give you a straight answer at the estimate.
Can a fence go on top of a retaining wall?
Yes, and we build both. One of the projects in our gallery is a block retaining wall with a stained wood fence on top. See retaining walls.
FAQ
Backyard projects
Pergola or patio cover: which one is right for my yard?
A pergola has an open, slatted roof that filters the sun; a patio cover has a solid roof that blocks sun and rain. Our pergola page shows both.
Do you build decks and patios together?
What goes into an outdoor kitchen?
Usually a built-in grill set into a stone or masonry island, with counter space and storage doors, often under a cover or pergola. Our outdoor kitchen page has photos.
Can you plan the whole backyard at once?
That’s what our outdoor living projects are: one plan covering the patio, cover, kitchen, deck, walls and fence, built by one team so the pieces fit.
FAQ
Pools, turf & courts
Do you remodel pools?
Yes, along with the pool deck, pool fencing and shade around it. Ross can walk through what’s possible at the estimate. See pool remodels.
Where does synthetic grass make the most sense?
Side yards, courtyards and narrow strips along paths, patios and fences, the spots that are hard to keep green. See synthetic grass.
Can you build a pickleball court in a backyard?
If there’s room, yes. A backyard court gets planned with its fencing, patio, shade and drainage. Our pickleball page covers what to think about.
Do pool fences need a permit?
In some cities, yes. Coppell, for example, requires a permit for any fence enclosing a pool or spa. Check your city’s page under Service Areas, or ask us at the estimate.
